After much practice, our daily routines ar solidly in place. We do science, language arts, and reading in the morning, and math in the afternoon. Every other Wednesday we have a lesson with Mrs. Ahumada (the counselor) first thing in the morning and library right before lunch. Our lunch time has shifted to 12:02- 12:32, due to some class changes. With routines in place, and daily/ weekly assignments being given our class is off and running! I look forward to meeting with everyone over the next few weeks!
I am very proud of our class. Benchmarks were completed Wednesday and Thursday. Our class showed tremendous growth. I was very impressed with what our kids have learned and retained over the first semester. I will release scores this week. Any one that would like to go over your child's test, please email me, and schedule a meeting.
Biography boards were sent home Friday. Each student has their title (spelled correctly), timeline, and a synopsis of their person's life complete. The final component, to be completed at home, is a map. The map can be the state/ country of origin, a map of a journey the person took, or a map of a significant place related to the person. Afterwards, students can jazz them up, add pictures, decorations, and be creative! Finally, we spent our day Friday relaxing with an electronics party. The kids loved having a picnic lunch outside, enjoying the beautiful weather. Over the last few weeks we have been completing our solar system group projects. I have been so inspired to see the creativity of our students. Last Friday, I linked the videos created by the groups, and this week I am uploading pictures. One group created a skit, while others had video. One group even included jokes! We finished on Thursday with a fact finding scavenger hunt around our room. I cannot wait to see their Biography projects on March 10th!

Academics + Arcade = Fun Learning! We signed up for a new game based website, arcademics. One of the most important skills in 3rd grade is the memorization of multiplication facts to 12. It is a challenge for the classroom, as we have to cover so much in a such a short time. Because of this, we rely heavily on parent support to accomplish this goal. I require 10 minutes on Mondays and Wednsdays of memorization. This semester I sent home a packet to assist parents. Now I am also offering a game website to help memorization. Please comment and tell me what think!
![]() This week we began our math unit on fractions. We completed the week playing a fractions dice game. The game incorporated the skills of unit fractions, parts of a whole, and sum of unit fractions. ![]() We are also Master's of the Universe! This year for Science Fair, in group's, students are researching a planet. Next week, we will create a product, put together Science fair boards, and give presentations about what we learned. Welcome back, I am very excited to launch a third grade blogging page. It is my hope that parents will receive a better understanding of the third grade experience. I have updated everything in the "What are we learning section." Anyone private tutoring is now provided with the monthly concepts covered. Check back each week to catch a glimpse of third grade!
