Hello! This project is my absolute favorite of the year. I have am providing a general outline below, please always refer to my emails to help guide you, and your family.
End of January- your child will sign up, and be approved by me, to research a famous person. This famous person needs to have benefited society in some way, and have book written about them. This is not an internet based research project.
2017 Students- The book must be read by Monday Feb 13th. Homework:

Next, we will create a timeline in class, and glue it to the board, before the board is sent home. I have posted a picture for parents to use as a general guide line for what needs to be on each board. Students are responsible to decorate, and provide a neat visual on the board at home. This board will be on display at the "Living Wax Museum" performance, which will be the Thursday before Spring Break.
2017 Students- timelines will be completed Friday, February 17th, boards are sent home to be completed.
The final written, at- home part of this project is the biography profile sheet. This sheet is intended to get the students to take a more personal, in- depth look at their famous person. It will enhance their speeches, instead of listing off facts. This sheet is one page, front and back. I have linked a copy below as well.
2017 Students- Biography profile sheet is due Thursday February 23rd. We will be writing speeches on Friday Feb. 24th.
Speeches will be written in class, and transcribed onto index cards. Students need to practice their speech, until they can recite it fluidly, and with confidence.
Students will need a costume. This does not need to be extravagant, but costumes add the final touch to this interactive project. If you need assistance of any kid with regards to the costume, please let me know in advance, so I can help. Below are a few tips to help your student feel fully prepared on the performance day.
**A note for my 2017 parents: you will have the weekend of Feb 25th and March 3rd to get costumes. However, I need to know by Monday Feb 27th if my assistance is needed.
Finally, I am providing my grading rubric, so everyone can see how the project is graded. It counts as 2 grades, so it is crucial that each component is completed on time. I look forward to seeing everyone come, and enjoy all our third graders at this spectacular event!
2017 Students- completed projects are due Friday March 3rd. This includes, the list of events sheet (we used to make your timeline), biography profile sheet, speech, and decorated board. Points will be deducted for any part of the project not turned in on time.
2017 "Living Wax Museum" presented by the OHE third graders will be Thursday March 9th at 8:15 am in the cafeteria. After the performance, Mrs. Hunter's class will enjoy a pajama day, so pack your child comfortable pajamas to "drop everything and read" party!
A copy of the invitation is below, with each student's performance time.
